The Workbee can be described first and foremost as utterly defenseless. Anyone who would consider operating one in a hostile environment, be that a combat situation or outside of a ship's shield bubble / drydock containment shield, should be referred to counseling and behavioral analysis. Moving on from that, the Workbee is a long haul mainstay of Starfleet's utility vehicles; designed to be more of a mobile modular cockpit than a shuttle, the Workbee has chemical thrusters for high and precise maneuverability but no primary engine system. It also has an on board life support system, but operators are advised to wear an EVA suit while operating the Workbee in case of atmospheric containment failure due to accidents. Completing the workbee's complement of systems are several control panels and sticks, an adjustable seat, and short wave radio system. And an alert blinker on top to warn bystanders of your presence. Given the rather basic on board systems, one might wonder how these 'shuttles' have remained in service for as long as they have. Well, that is due to their biggest feature. On the back, and bottom of the workbee are a pair of modular attachment points which allow the workbee to attach itself to a number of peripherals. From cargo sleds, to industrial work arms, from combat Killerbee augmentation rigs to docking onto industrial tractor beam arrays to control the device, the workbee is effectively a means for the pilot to have a one size fits all cockpit that they can fly to whatever utility object they must control or utilize, and dock to. There are currently several proposed upgrades (Such as shields, and a cup holder for drinks) However the design is so robust, starfleet may be using it for centuries.
