Also known as Tourou and ishidoro, Typically made of granite or syenite, Toro are commonly found in the gardens of Temples and Shinto shrines. They come in many shapes and sizes, but all contain a hollowed out center piece in which can be placed a candle or oil lamp to be lighted on special occasions.
Toro's are also commonly found in private gardens throughout Japan and are worldwide.
