The Fairy Light Strings - must- remain unlinked. Unless you remove the script or set it to not running.
You should - really - resist the urge to link the fairy lights to anything.
This is your warning, unless you fancy psychedelic effects on all textures in the linkset.
Trust me. Do not link them to any thing or any thing to them :)

Removing the control fairy lights script:
The current mode remains active , even if you take or copy them into your inventory and re-rezz them, but not when you shift -drag copy them.

When you rezz, make sure to do that in edit mode, so you can move both items together.

Mesh: generally, meshes change their Landimpact when resized.
If needed, resize with care and a close eye on the Landimpact.
