The LagRadar sensor system monitors simulator performance in Second Life.
It detects when regions are lagging or offline and reports this data to the LagRadar network.
LagRadar works automatically once installed. You can use it as a vehicle sensor or as a stationary region monitor.
LagRadar sensors on vehicles measure the health of the region you are in, and the region ahead of you. When it finds a region running poorly or one that is offline, it records that information and reports it to the LagRadar server. Local sensors simply check the region they are in at regular intervals and report the same data.
You can see a list of currently logged/detected regions at any time by visiting the website.
For the user, the system is mostly automatic. Linked sensors check each region and upcoming region shortly after crossing a region border. Rezzed sensors check the local region at regular intervals. If the sensor detects issues or takes action, it sends a message in chat.
