"Rikk, is it possible to script something that will send me an email when a piece of land that I have set for sale is purchased?
"What would be perfect would be a prim that would be set on a parcel that is set to sell via the Linden land sell function. Currently if someone were to purchase the land, there is no offline notification. The money just goes into the kitty. Is it possible to have the prim send an IM to me (or ) like a vendor does. We get those messages when we are offline. Please let me know if this is possible."
That's what the Land Sale Indicator does. Of course, I had to add bells & whistles -- it sends both IMs and emails (for those busy folks who might miss a green IM) to a list of people as specified by you on the enclosed notecard. Of course, if you get your IM's by email when you are offline, and put both in the notecard, you'll get 2 emails if you are offline. "That's not a bug, it's a feature!"
To use the script, please rez the object on the parcel you intend to sell, and edit the "Notify List" notecard: right-click on the object, Edit..., choose the Content tab, and double-click on "Notify List". Follow the instructions there, and please be sure to save your work.
The indicator checks once per minute for a change of ownership. When the land is acquired it will speak a congratulatory message in open chat, and then deliver messages to those on the Notify List.
Once the Land Sale Indicator script does its job, it dies -- AND TAKES ITS CONTAINER WITH IT. The more emails you have it send, the longer it will take for the object to leave the land (there is a Linden-imposed 20-second delay per email), but it should happen within a few minutes in any case. Thus you don't have to come back to delete the "for sale" sign, or have it returned off the new owner's land.
You are welcome to retexture and modify the object in which you find the script, or move it to another object (a sale kiosk, for example), but don't drop it into a no-copy item that you don't intend to lose. That would be bad. Also, be sure to not change ownership of the parcel (deeding to a group, for example) after rezzing the object! You can take it back into inventory and re-rez later -- it will reset itself when placed onto a parcel.
The Land Sale Indicator is available in single-use and copy-perm versions, one each to meet the needs of one-time sellers and estate managers. Please see it (and buy it!) in-world at my main store!
