The modern floor CNC lathe (computer numerical controlled) was developed in the 60's and became more common in the 80's with microprocessor MCU development. The software included control system programs, calculation algorithms, translation software, interpolation algorithm to achieve smooth motion editing of part program etc. A modern CNC lathe can perform many functions; turning, drilling, milling, drill pressing. The machinist today does not need the skills as for a manual lathe but he does need to be very competent in computer 3D programming. Our lathe is a larger industrial machine that is used with a PC system (not included) and is found in any advanced workshop, especially for constructing engines. A must for a modern pro car garage or an aircraft hanger.
This type of lathe has several safety systems; the yellow floor pedal, an emergency break on the chuck guard (working).
Our model CNC lathe was inspired by the 750MM / 1000MM LATHE CHESTER CHALLENGER, and is a very close likeness
If you building a machine shop or want to add a bit more realism to your garage, hanger, or marine maintenance facility then this would be a big plus

As a machinist....
This is not a CNC lathe, this doesn't even have a proper digital read out (DRO), instead you get a pretty picture of whats chucked up in the lathe. its modeled wonderfully, but its a manual lathe, not CNC. its nicely animated, the cross slide and carriage however are not animated, nor are the gear selects, or foot pedals. for what it is, its good enough, but I feel I have to make the correction here for everyone. That being said it is still a great addition to any shop build in SL, would like to see the textures dirtied up some, and some paint missing so you know it's been worn in.
