2006 vintage script which works but lags the whole region like crazy
full star empty star empty star empty star empty star Posted October 24, 2022 by Gwyneth Llewelyn

Popular when SL was new and you couldn't move objects beyond 10 m, this script was the result of ingenuity, tweaked and co-authored by legendary scripters of the early days of SL. It works by having an avatar sit on the prim and move it around the region, as fast as possible, 10m at the time. It still works, of course — but has the tragic consequence of lagging the region like crazy, especially if there are many residents around, all happily 'teleporting' from one spot to the other.
In fact, this script was so popular and widely deployed, that the whole grid suffered, to the point when Linden Lab stepped in and created a new LSL function in 2012, llSetRegionPos(), which will move an object essentially instantly to its destination within the region — with zero lag.
As a consequence, since 2012, Linden Lab has kindly requested *not* to use *this* script (or any of its multiple variants developed since 2006).
Sadly, I only managed to view the script *after* having bought it, expecting a 'modern' version using llSetRegionPos(), and not a version that should have been retired at least a decade ago.
