The Lucky Chair is SL's hottest new store promotion phenomena - with almost 300 chairs already installed at retail outlets around the grid, and nearly 1,000 residents signed up to dedicated chair-hunting "guilds"!

The chair uses a simple social engineering/viral marketing technique to attract traffic. This item is NOT a camping chair - the crowds that it attracts need to remain active, alert, and need to co-operate to get a prize from the chair. It does NOT encourage zombie-like groups to fill your store.

The chair works as follows: Periodically, a random "Magic letter" is selected - this letter is displayed above the chair. If a person sits in the chair whose first name matches the current magic letter, they win a (owner-supplied) prize. So, for example, my name is "Shep Korvin" ... if the chair is showing a magic letter of "S", and I sit in it, I win the prize ...Simple!

Here's the clever bit: Statistically, it's unlikely that the chair will be showing the "correct" letter when a given visitor arrives at your store. Visitors are therefore encouraged to teleport their friends into the store, to try to claim the standing prize and "nudge" the magic letter onto a new value. These "referral chains" can fill your store with new visitors!

If you have *any* doubts about the effectiveness of these chairs at getting people into your store, try evesdropping on some of the larger in-game chair hunter groups (search for "Lucky Chair" in the group listings) - within minutes, you'll realise just how attractive the chairs can be!

This item is our VERY LATEST chair design. It contains all the great features of earlier models, plus the following improvements:

- Allows multiple prizes to be loaded; one is selected at random on each change of letter.

- "Next Letter" and countdown timer are displayed as xytext on prim surfaces; no more messy floating text!

- Display panel displays an owner-provided texture, showing full details of the next prize

- Optional particle and sound effects when a prize is won (texture and sound fully customizable)

- Optional "shout mode", for club / large venue owners

The chair is provided mod-allowed, so (if necessary) you can re-texture it to fit your decor, and comes bundles with helpful suggestions on configuring and publicising your new Lucky Chair.

All lucky chairs are scripted to be low-lag. They have no active listeners, and in regular operating mode, they trigger only one LSL timer event per minute.
