I cant comment on Mesh, but it works great with BoM. Just use your own shape and add the alpha, fins, etc.
4 stars but a little problem
So first, the tail is quite nice. Smooth, textured properly, love the flexi fins, very gorgeously colored.
However, I don't know if it's the mesh or the animations that I'm using, but the bottom half of the tail, before the fins (I guess you could call it the "peduncle") bends weirdly inward when I'm swimming. I have several mer aos, so it may be the swimming animation (since they're quite basic). But it is something to watch out for.
