"The Roman domus was much more than a place of dwelling for a Roman familia. It also served as a place of business and a religious center for worship. The size of a domus could range from a very small house to a luxurious mansion. The domus included multiple rooms, indoor courtyards, gardens, and beautifully painted walls.
Atrium: The atrium was the central hall, almost like a modern-day foyer, and it was the most conspicuous room in a Roman domus. It was open at the roof, which let in light and air for circulation, and also allowed rainwater for drinking and washing to collect in the impluvium, a small draining pool in the middle of the atrium.
Tablinum (office): Roman men often conducted business out of their domus from a home office known as the tablinum. It was also the room where clients would go to meet their patron for the salutatio, a formal renewal of their patron-client relationship.
Triclinium (dining room): Dinner parties were very popular in ancient Rome. These were held in the triclinium, which translates to “three couch room” because it had three couches arranged in a U-shape. While eating, Romans reclined on these couches and they always dined barefoot. There were no fixed tables in the Roman triclinium; food was served on portable tables. ~Steven Fife, Ancient history Encyclopedia.
This skybox is made to resemble a Roman Domus, with Atrium in the center room, 2 cubiculum on the sides (which can be turned into bedrooms or dining rooms with triclinium,) and a tablinum on the end. The tablinum has a window which opens up to a fake peristyle garden with mesh bushes in the foreground.
Each room comes with a set of animated curtains which open and close (I didn't attach them to the skybox, since the animation script wouldn't work then. The curtains are also no-mod because of the script, but I included extra copies of the curtains with different textures, in case you wanted additional designs to choose from.)
There are 4 types of skybox included:
1. Sunny - A bright patch of light falls from the compluvium roof hole above. Transparent sky texture - 57 Land Impact
2. Rainy - Cloudy sky texture with small waterfalls falling into the compluvium. (Falling water and foam particle boxes are Phantom and, like the curtains, are not attached to the skybox.) 62 LI
3. Sunset - Rez with the Sunset Sun Setting. Has a glowing sunset sky texture. 55 LI
4. Midnight. Rez with the Sunset Sun Setting (yes, really.) Has a moonlit sky texture and a square of pale moonlight hitting the floor under the compluvium. - 57 LI
All LI figures include curtains. Skybox is 25m x 25m, enough for a double parcel. Domus is fully enclosed and is meant to be rezzed in the sky.
FURNITURE AND STATUES NOT INCLUDED. (You can find some of the Roman furniture featured in the pictures in my Marketplace Store.)
Included with this skybox are a set of Textures used to decorate it. The walls textures are original and based on real life and recreated examples of Ancient Roman artwork. The textures are Full Perm and can be used in your own creations. Apart from the curtains, all components of this skybox are fully copy/mod.
Please IM Amethyst Dominica if you have any questions about this skybox. Thanks!
