Well, it's almost perfect...
I needed something for a cat memorial in my small forest... This was perfect, or so I thought. When I scroll away from the memorial, the cat vanishes and turns into a rough triangle. Even with my LOD high. :/
Beautiful Mesh terrible mapping
I made the mistake of thinking that the other reviewers exaggerated the blurface. The face is so small you cannot put a single pixel down without hefty distortion. I wanted to make a realistic cat for a project, with hand painted eyes and all that. There isn't enough ZOOM to make what I really wanted possible. I am extremely disappointed. The paws do not need more mapping space than the head. Not just the face. THE ENTIRE HEAD. It creates distortion in any fur patterning you may want to do etc.
It is the nicest shape for a cat statue, and that just makes it worse.
Both reviewers are right--
This is indeed a stunning piece of mesh--easily the nicest cat shape I've seen in SL. BUT it is in no way easily textured if you want a realistic looking cat, and even if you want a marble statue as the ad suggests, be prepared to accept a blurry looking face. The Occlusion Map makes nice shadows, but the UV mapping was very poorly done. The eyes are separate and can be textured nicely, and it may be possible with great persistence to get the hair to lay right. (The tail and back are easy enough, but the rest--not.) But the biggest problem is the scale of the face--it is so many times smaller than everything else that even a single pixel line is far too large for whiskers using a 1024 texture. The entire face uses only about 38 pixels across--and worse yet, is oriented on the diagonal. The cat's paw is scaled two or three times the size of the face. So if you want to texture the cat to have a cute, detailed face, it simply cannot be done on this mesh.

Apparently Emileigh Starbrook who left a bad review has no idea what she's talking about. First of all the sale poster in no way implies you get free textures, it specifically says Easy to texture or color. It does not say Free textures included. Poor dear, perhaps you need to adjust your eye-wear.
Also, an occlusion is not useless, it helps to provide the depth and dimension mesh needs. You must have skipped that part in building class.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this mesh item and it is well worth the price. Remember, not all bad reviews are credible, some are just sour grapes. Oh, and my new purple damask cat is now happily guarding the front door of my sky loft. LOL
