The hair looks cute enough, but has some problems with how it's made. The first issue is that it is constructed rather poorly with four different hair styles all part of the same linkset driving the triangle count up to an unusable 170k tris. This is one of the single worst practices hair creators these days do. However, this can thankfully be fixed by rezzing the hair in a no script area (since it has a dumb anti-rez script), and unlinking the individual styles, which are around 40k tris average each. Seeing the item was mod and noticing this would be an option was the sole reason I decided to purchase.
The next issue is with the textures, the main hair diffuse is a 1024x1024 atlas, which is okay, but has two additional 1024x1024s for the materials, adding another 8MBs to the VRAM usabe. I replaced this with two of my own horizontal tiling 256x256 materials and made it look even better for only 512kb!
The next texture issue is with the hair pins, each uses a 1024x1024, using 12MBs total, ugh. These can easily be on a single 256x128 per, I just blanked them out and tinted, and nobody notices. The final straw here is a 1024xx1024 solid gray specular. Holy shit, why? You can just TINT the specular for the same effect instead of using another 4MBs. Or even here, use this 2x2 gray texture: 29988a64-5e5c-fab4-53f9-1c8ea0e7b752 it uses almost no VRAM and looks literally the same. You're welcome.
After doing the above I managed to get the hair from an unusable 170k tris and 28MBs of VRAM down to a respectable 41k tris and just over 4MBs of VRAM while maintaining the same visual quality.
Lovely! but...
I wish we could remove the wisp of the hair when using bangs too, it's a little bit on the face. Still lovely :)
