Simon Says: GET IT!
If you're at all on the fence about getting this little game, don't be. It's a simpler design than MadPea's other "Simon" based game, but overall THIS game seems more consistent with the original.
Simpler does NOT mean easier!
Clean, clear sounds, bright colors, and rigid gameplay make this an excellent rendition of the game we know and love to hate. The level counter only adds to the game's taunting nature, upping the pressure with every round.
Unlike "UFO", which nurses you along with multiple tries, "Rosetta Says" is demanding and unforgiving. Make just one mistake, the game ends. You never have long to rest between rounds, and the game will end if you take too long! Every level is harder, more nerve wracking as you try to remember 10, 15, 20 lights and sounds, in order.
Multiple players can take turns playing, each starting from '00' to try and earn a better score. The game ignores touches from others while someone is playing. It's between you and Rosetta, and no one can help you! You can even wear the game, and play it on the go. The 'taking turns' multiplayer still works when held!
For modders: The game mesh is indeed modifyable, and the single script will NOT self-destruct if you need to add a script of your own. The game uses texture-sliding for the lights and counter, so retexturing those is not an option. But you can still tint, change materials, or alpha. There's a great deal of flexibility if you want to change up the looks. Li doesn't balloon unreasonably when scaled, and LOD falloff is good at original scale. I only wish more MadPea games were mod like this!
My bottom line: I have a lot of board games, and I use a holodeck-style system for games, but it requires the games to be mod! This game works perfectly with that concept, fits perfectly in my collection, and suits my 80s obsession. Not only does it look, sound, and play great, but it's just as challenging, unforgiving, and cruel as the original.
