This handcrafted authentic Makishi Mask historically was used by various Zambian tribes during a ritual initiation for boys between the ages of 8 and 12. These masks represet the spirit of a deceased ancestor who returns to the world of the living to assist the boys. Such masks are very rare and only an exclusive few have found their way into the general public.
