Let me start by saying the 962 is as excellent as only Manji cars are.
I've been racing my Lotus style Manji Cat-7 for years now. The 962 comes very close, but aside from it being considerably faster the 962 doesn't quite beat the Cat7, despite the higher price.
Let's be frank, when SL racing get's fast, then itcan become quite absurd due to all the lag and technical SL issues.
Like Manji's other cars the 962 is also far superior to any other SL vehicles out there. Manj's cars are just in a league of their own. But when set up all fast, this 962 is well cable of driving faster than "the speed of lag".
The Cat7 on the other hand will not reach these extreme speeds where SL breaks the experience and that allows for some great racing fun when racing with other Cat7 drivers because everyone races on practically equal terms.
In this sense faster isn't always better.
On to the nitpicking pros and the cons:
- The 962 with the covered wheels has a superior physics shape over the Cat7 making it get stuck in walls considerably less than the Cat7.
- The fuel system is fun but I don't use it much.
- The 962 has more and better downforce options.
- The 962 being faster will beat a Cat7's track time with ease, unless you deal with lag issues.
- I guess the 962 must be an earlier creation, because it lacks several little upgrades and improvements the Cat7 and other Manji-cars have, for example:
- The 962 hud only has indicators but no buttons. This means you need to click on the vehicle to operate functions like lights and escape via the blue object menu. So you canot use escape several times in quick succession to make the car jump higher and higher.
- No drive modes, only gears with and without turbo.
- The tag showing gears and fuel% does not fade when driving and always remains visible.
Keep in mind that the 962 has no passenger seat to take friends along, but texture templates make it a much more customizable race car.
I'm happy, 5 stars!
