Midnight Gothic Grandfather Clock - Wandering Hour Dial

Details

The design for this clock is based on a 17th Century longcase Night Clock, designed with a lighted dial that could tell the time in the dark without the use of noisy chimes. This particular clock is a "Wandering Hour" clock, designed so that the hour number wanders up over the arc where its position against a number of minute markings indicates the current time. You can see how this clock worked on the following webpage:

https://blog.britishmuseum.org/time-to-shine-a-17th-century-night-clock/

The clock I've made is purely decorative, and will always show the time as Midnight. (I've included some full perm clock textures, if you want to try and make your own Wandering Hour clock with Second Life scripting.)

This style of Night Clock is very rare in real life, owing to the fact that the light sources used to light the clocks in the 17th century often ended up burning them down. This clock won't set anything on fire, although I've included a version of the clock with a crackling fire burning away on its cover for novelty/ roleplay fun.

Land impact for clock is 17-19 prims

NOTES ON REZZING/MOVING CLOCK!!!!

Due to how the scripts work, I've had to make this clock with many of its parts unlinked. Unlinking any of its parts that are linked may cause them to function incorrectly. When moving this clock, make sure to select and move the entire thing at once, since there are parts inside it (like the pendulum) which aren't linked to the other parts of the clock. The clock is copyable, so make sure to make extra copies of it so that you can rez a replacement if it gets messed up.
