Missing Attachments Detector ("MAD" for short) is an application you wear on your HUD. It keeps an eye on your body attachments and gives a warning when something is off. MAD can only see attachments you wear on your avatar: Your mesh body, hair, mesh tattoo layers, tail or ears (when you are a neko), your mesh clothing, etc.
The list of your body attachments MAD calls "outfit". MAD remembers the owner' outfit and warns them when something is missing from or added to the outfit MAD remembers.
● Can this really happen at all?
The case of loosing attachments is relatively rare (it should actually never happen) but there was a really annoying bug recently when you teleport somewhere and some of your attachments stop responding. Or even worse when people start telling you you're missing something. Because that something 'forgot' to come over with you. And forgot to tell this to your viewer. You would see them fine but other people wont.
MAD can tell you if you are missing something before someone else does. This bug must be fixed by now, actually, but you never know if (when) it hits again.
The case of gaining attachments (without owner's control or knowledge) is rather a griefing. MAD can detect this (or confirm when the owner watches their rendering costs.) Maybe you'll never experience this in your whole second life but sure is sure and because MAD can check for this it does.
● Only body attachments? What about my HUDs?
Unfortunately a script can only detect attachments worn on avatar body. As for the date at least.
● How do you use this application?
1. First after you have properly dressed you scan your outfit. MAD has a button for this.
2. Now, whenever you think your outfit were corrupted, ask MAD if it is.
3. When you set MAD to auto mode then MAD will do this for you whenever you teleport.
4. And when you use the RLV option MAD will even notice whenever your outfit changes.
● I have to pay for something because of bugs?
You must not. When you only are unsure because of the said bug and want to confirm your own attachments, there are also alternatives for free. For example you can take this great tool:
https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/MB-What-is-She-Wearing/9129140
It can list attachments someone (else) wears but you can also use it to check your own attachments — to see if you really wear what you think you do.
And when you are looking for an other attachments monitor, you can try this one:
https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Box-Attachment-Monitor-HUD-Updated-Nov-6-2021/7853080
Only to name two.
● Is checking the outfit costs region resources?
Yes it does, but MAD was scripted for moderate resource usage: It checks the outfit only after region change (when in auto mode), after the owner has added or removed something (when RLV option is set) and after log-in (when the session option is not set.) And it uses timers to give the region time to load your avatar and to balance the region load.
I hope this HUD will be as useful for you as it is for me.
