Multi Animal Target
Firstly this lets you choose an animal to shoot at, ranging from a butterfly to an elephant. (11 different animals and birds, see photos)
The 'animal' is projected onto particles which can be tweaked via menus to give a stable texture.
In addition to the 'fixed' 2D and 3D target ranges the owner can set the range to any size they wish, by clicking 'Set Range' then entering the x, y and z values into chat.
One animal, the gopher, will hide under the ground now and then and moving along it's burrows will pop up in different places.
The owner has the option to allow others to change some of the parameters, the animal, the speed etc but not the particle settings. Also can be set to register onlt owner's hits or all hits - all menu driven.
When you first rez it, you will see a gopher - then, set your animal and get the settings correct for minimum flicker (see options menu below), take a copy to ur inventory (it will be renamed to the animal you chose), the settings will be saved and be used next time you drag it out - after you have a stable copy you can use the 'De-rez' button from the menu options to delete it safely knowing that you still have a good copy in your inventory :-)
Options menu
In this you can set -
1. Particles - usually the lower the better, 1 or 2 should be the best;
2. Burst - this is the speed the particles are fired, anywhere between 0.004 and 0.008 seconds should be ok but you may have to play with this number depending on the size of the animal you choose;
3. Age, this is how long the particles will exist for, if you set this to roughly 2 or 3 times the burst rate you should get good results, if the age is too long you will see multiple copies of the animal following each other, if too short then flicker will be evident.
If you want to move a large animal quickly then you would lower the burst rate and the age, this should help to remove any flickering.
Have a play with the numbers, they are applied as soon as you click them so you can see what effect they have. If things get totally screwed up just click default and try again :-)
Be aware that what looks perfect on your screen may not be perfect to someone else, particles are rendered client side and can be affected by many things - available bandwidth (low particle number helps here) and even an individual user's graphics card and processing rate will have an effect.
(All this info is on a notecard inside the target)
