Arms rings with animal heads are rare findings from the viking period. Most armrings were flat, less ornamented and much simpler. Although we often hear that these beautiful rings were used as "Oath rings" among warriors there is little documentation for this practice. More likely the rings were used as a form of wearable currency and parts, or the entire ring could be used as payment.
In all cases these beautiful bracelets represent an outstanding example of Viking craftsmanship.
