Introducing release #130 -- the "Nutso Baller!" This is a bit of a departure from my usual vehicles as it uses prims, prim-type physics shapes, and a bespoke drive core script that's hand-rolled to the point where it needs no LSL Vehicle calls. (I usually do LSL Vehicle physics stuff, so this was a nice change for me.)
This 4 LI vehicle consists of four 1.3m prim balls, which are attached by way of particle ribbons to a mysterious glowing cloud which is -- in my head -- the thing that somehow powers the whole bizarre contraption. It sits a single pilot, who somehow floats on the mysterious glowing cloud. The vehicle features two throttles which, when used together, allow the vehicle to move and turn. Used individually, they allow the vehicle to move in one of four directions. The vehicle is a single-script design that handles border crossings with quite some civility.
The vehicle can traverse most land and prim obstacles at a stunning top speed of about 4 metres per second, and far more successfully than previous vehicle experiments, owing to the use of a speed boost which kicks in depending on the angle of slope that the vehicle is traversing. It's often possible to drive up almost vertical land walls.
N.B.: The way the vehicle moves is inherently unstable, owing to the use of raw physics, so a little finesse will
be needed when, for example, driving along hills. Straight-line driving is highly dependent on terrain,
and the balls *will* cause a little drift. This is to be expected, and it's part of what makes this rather
slow vehicle such fun to drive.
N.B.: If you're in a sandbox that's being griefed, press PGDN at any time to enable an Anti-Grief mode
which locks the vehicle in place and renders both vehicle and driver completely phantom. :-)
As befits the price, the single-script drive core in this vehicle is FULL-MOD so that you can edit it, textures are included (in the root prim), and the vehicle itself is FULL-MOD so that it can be edited as well.
