Navigation Buoy Set

If you own a water plot and have ban lines on it, or have disabled object entry or have no spare prims you are causing a hazard to shipping. You may not know it but when a vehicle enters such an area it usually results in the passengers being flung into orbit while their vehicle is lost in a different direction. This rather spoils a nice day out on the water.

To help aid safe sailing in SL this I have produced a set of navigation buoys designed to international marine standards. These are low prim (5 or less for each buoy) and low price. They are all equipped with the appropriate lighting. If you have shipping hazards on your water please use these buoys to mark them and help make SL a better place for everyone.

This set contains the following, all copy only:

* Cardinal Marks.

The best buoys for marking ban lines and similar are the cardinal marks.
These are the yellow and black buoys. There are four of these, each one indicates the direction of safe or navigable water, i.e. if you want boats to keep to the north of a buoy then use the North Cardinal Mark.

North Cardinal Mark: Has two black cones pointing upwards and a quick flashing light.
East Cardinal Mark: Two black cones, top one pointing up, bottom one down. A series of 3 quick flashes every 5 or 10 secs (think 3 'o clock).
South Cardinal: Two cones pointing down, Six short flashes followed by 1 long flash every 10 secs.
West Cardinal: Two cones pointing towards each other (think Wineglass for West), 9 short flashes every 10 or 15 secs.

* Lateral Marks.

Port (left, red) and Starboard (right, green).
Use these to mark a safe passage through a channel.
As the direction of passage is arbitrary make sure you use both colours. A single red buoy is meaningless.

The set contains both large and small lateral marks.

* Isolated Danger Mark.

Red and Black with two black spheres. These are used to mark a small danger with navigable water all about. Use these for small underwater rocks and similar hazards.
Short white flashes in groups of 2.

* Safe Water Mark

These are red and white buoys, small and large sizes are included.
Use these to indicate navigable water all around.
1 long white flash every 10 secs.

All buoys are set to phantom so as to not become shipping hazards in their own right.

Also included is a poster which gives a quick guide to these buoys along with this notecard.

A nicely in-theme way of marking my little island's boundaries and they're phantom so they don't inconvenience my neighbours use of the waterways.
