The notecard reader will assist you in reading any of your note cards on special occasions. Those occasions can include giving speeches, making toasts, teaching classes, and sales presentations.
The reader has many features, which will be described here.
In order to use the vow reader successfully:
1. Rez the Notecard Reader in SL. It is small, so you should rez it on a floor or table surface where you will find it again.
2. Edit the Notecard Reader, and select the content tab.
3. Drop in any notecard you have from your inventory, and edit it according ot the rules below. SEE NOTES BELOW ABOUT EDITING THE CARD
4. Save your edits to the Notecard Reader.
5. Take the Notecard Reader back into your inventory.
6. Attach the Notecard Reader as a hud. I recommend an area you don't normally use (bottom center?)
Alternatively, you can simply drop notecards into the reader when it is rezzed in world, or worn as a HUD.
When you have the notecard reader mounted as a hud, you can click buttons on the hud to make it function.
These commands are:
Start This command will tell the note card reader to begin reading the selected note card from the beginning.
Go This command will tell the reader to read your note card from wherever it last left off.
Stop This command will tell the note card reader to stop reading lines. This can be done if you must pause the automated reading.
Reset This command will cause the Notecard Reader to reread the available list of note cards and reset itself for operation.
Note: Any time the reader determines there is more than one note card in the contents, you will be prompted with a dialog to select the note card you wish to have read. Additionally, any time you press the RESET button, the same check will take place.
-------EDITING THE NOTE CARD--------
With the note cards you wish to have read, there are only a few things you must realize.
#1. The very first line of the card should be your time delay between normal text lines of the card. You can enter a value like 3.0, or 0.5. Decimal numbers are allowed and will affect the timing of all lines read on the card. If you don't enter a time delay value, the card reader will use 3.0 seconds as the default delay between lines.
#2. Any place you wish to input a dramatic pause, create a single line that begins with [pause] followed by a space and the time you wish to delay. This time will be added to the normal time delay. For example, if your first line said 3.0, and somewhere in the card you had a line that said [pause] 10.0, there would be a 13.0 second delay before continuation of the line reading began again.
#3. Your lines can be as long as you wish in the note card, up to 255 characters. The Vow Reader will read an entire line up to the enter key as a single line, no matter how many lines it looks like when you view the notecard. Anything after 255 characters on a single line will not be displayed to the readers when the text is spoken to nearby chat.
