*** Important: you will need basic building skills in order to use this product on your home. ***
Specifically: you will need to be able to rez, edit, move, rotate and resize objects. Instructions are included, but if you’ve no experience of using the ‘edit’ tools, you’re likely to get frustrated.
What you get is a basic blind which needs to be resized to match the windows on your home, carefully moved into position and rotated so it is facing the right way. Patience will be essential.
These blinds allow you to add a privacy screen to your windows so that people can’t see in, without losing your view out onto the world. They act like one-way glass - you can see out but others can’t see in.
This is achieved simply by making the transparency on one side of the blind 100%. It’s fairly straight-forward, and if you can rez and position the blind effectively, you could probably make this yourself without too much trouble. However, I’m supplying you with a choice of blinds textures, the ability to have the blinds closed or open, an option for having both sides transparent (visually removing the blinds completely) and a texture change hud so that you can make these changes quickly and easily.
The hud can be used on your own screen and also rezed onto a suitable location in your home, such as a wall, so that visitors can access the menus as well.
The pictures should convey the effect of the one-way blind - I made this product for myself, because I’m lucky enough to have great views from my home, through very large windows, but some of my guests get worried about people being able to see in when we are cuddling and canoodling.
The blind is a traditional prim and not mesh. I could have made a mesh version, but honestly, it’s a simple shape so it doesn’t really need to be mesh. And being a prim means there shouldn’t be any physics issues to contend with.
A note on ‘privacy’.
These blinds are designed as an additional privacy layer. If you don’t want to be seen by others in neighbouring plots, you can adjust your land settings so that you are invisible to anyone not on your parcel. The blinds then add the verisimilitude of privacy, though of course if, like me, you hate ban lines and security orbs, then someone could wander onto your land and then cam around the blinds. If they choose to do that, then it’s their fault if they see something they shouldn’t and you’ve done what you could.
Why is this even necessary? It’s not really. It’s just a nice touch. Though it’s worth noting Linden Lab’s requirements for ‘adult’ activities on land rated as moderate say that all nudity and adult activities should be conducted out of sight of other avatars.
*** Important: you will have to resize and position the blinds for yourself. I can’t do it for you. Please see the instructions PDF which you can download before buying. ***
