The art of dry stone walling was inscribed in 2018 on the UNESCO representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, found predominantly in European countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Switzerland and Spain
Some dry stone wall constructions in north-west Europe have been dated back to the Neolithic Age.
There are over 5000 miles of dry stone walls in Yorkshire Dale alone.
