You can choose who may change the colors on your items : Owner-Group-Everyone.
Click the item to get the texture menu and choose "Main menu", then "Access" and the click the button of your choice.
DO NOT CHANGE THE DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM, otherwise the texture menu will no longer work.
If you want to rezz several copies, rezz fresh copies from your inventory rather than copy while editing (the texture menu risks to not work correctly if you do so)
