[PS] UV Helper is a handy tool for creators that texture meshes or any SL object.
If the mesh you are working on has many similar areas, or your mesh is missing UV maps, this tool will help you understand how the texture is laid out.
This tool helps you figure out which part of a mesh corresponds to which part of the texture.
Helper Display is Mod/Copy, Helper script is Copy.
Instructions:
• Drop "[PS] UV Helper Script" into the contents of the object you are working on.
• Rez "[PS] UV Helper Display" nearby.
• Click anywhere on your mesh and the corresponding spot on the texture is highlighted with a blinking dot on the display.
The blinking dot should help you find the appropriate spot to paint in your graphics program.
An example ladder mesh is included to show how the system works. The ladder does not need to be left rezzed out to use the Helper Display. It is just an example mesh with the "[PS] UV Helper Script" already copied into it's contents.
If you click on your mesh, and the Helper displays a color grid instead of the mesh's texture, then the texture on your mesh may be no-transfer. The helper will chat a message telling you that you can drag that no-transfer texture to the Helper display, and it will work for that no-transfer texture.
Remove the helper script from your object before selling your item. If you forget to remove the UV Helper script before selling your item, it will delete itself (just the helper script) when rezzed by the next owner. The helper script is set to copy/trans to prevent accidental creation of objects that can't be sold if the script is accidentally left inside.
