A large bookshelf, nice for filling space without using up your prim allotment!

Because the shelves add extra dimension, this shelf is a little more interesting than the typical one-prim box with a shelf photo on the front.

There are actually two items linked together. The bookshelf is one item, and the big book on top is a second item which can be un-linked and removed. The two items combined are 1 land impact, but like all mesh items, if the size is increased the land impact also increases.

I am surprised by the widely varying reviews this item has received, so I am adding more information. I hope it helps.

For people who have very limited prim allotments, it can be hard to make an apartment or house feel fully decorated. It is a lot easier than it was a few years ago. There are lots of sculpties and mesh items that can help. If you are ready to spend lots of lindens, you can find tons of neat items almost anywhere. It is harder if you are decorating on a budget! With patience and effort there are good deals to be found. You can scour the marketplace, participate in scavenger hunts, find some good group gifts, and shop specials in-world. This shelf unit can help a little, but obviously it won't be to everyone's taste.

This shelf will not bring about world peace! It will not magically make your second home into a work of art :). It just fills space! The books and items on the shelves are just pictures. Filling a shelf with lots of 3-dimensional books uses prims (land impact). I made this for myself because the only cheap, low-prim items I could find were flat rectangular boxes with a photo of books on the front. So, I took photos in secondlife of things that I would like to have on shelves and used the photos to create this unit. I do think it is a lot better than most of the old freebies.

Here is why I made only one wood tone -
This was a learning experience for me!! In order to create the photos, I discovered that I had to include the wood texture behind the items I was photographing. Each shelf had to be photographed separately, the photos had to be uploaded, applied separately, and adjusted to fit the varying heights of the shelves. Then I made a composite photo and finally was able to use that to make a finished product. In order to make different colors, I would have to repeat the entire process for each color. Its not worth the extra hours and expense.
