This Ardabil carpet, made in northwestern Iran, demonstrates a bold open design with three circular medallions and the use of stylized motifs. The influence of Caucasian motifs are very apparent in this unique Ardebil. The soft orange with a hint of red in the background is grounded by an off-white border with gold and yellow guard borders on either side. The other colors include green, gray and blue. Though its design is sophisticated, this rug can be used in an informal or modern setting.
