~ Intro ~
Giant's Causeway is a two-player board game with 19 hexagonal columns, two black pieces (both for player 1) and two white pieces (both for player 2). Each player takes a turn moving one piece and raising an adjacent column. The columns can be raised 3 times. On the 4th attempt, the column will sink into the ground and can no longer be used. The goal is to make one piece climb up to the highest column, 3 levels up.
~ Starting ~
The game starts by player 1 clicking on any of the columns. This will place the first black piece onto that column. Then, player 2 (or player 1, of they wish to play against themselves) clicks on an empty column to place their first white piece onto it. Then, player 1 clicks on another free column, and finally, player 2 clicks on another. Now the game pieces are in position and the game can begin.
~ Playing ~
Player 1 clicks on either of their black pieces to select it (They can click it again to deselect it.). Next, player 1 clicks on one of the available adjacent columns to move their piece onto it. Finally, player 1 clicks on an adjacent empty column to raise it one level (or sink it, if it's already raised 3 levels). Then, player 2 takes a turn, clicking on a white piece, then clicking on an adjacent empty column to move the piece, and finally, clicking on an adjacent empty column to raise (or lower) it. A piece can move from one column to the next (i) if it's the same level, 1 level higher, or any level lower. A piece can not move onto an adjacent column if it's (i) occupied by another piece, 2 or 3 levels higher, or sunken into the floor. If a piece moves onto a column that's 3 levels high, the player has won the game. Alternatively, if a player can no longer move any of their pieces, the opponent has won the game.
A player can resign from an ongoing game by clicking on the edge of the board and selecting 'End' in the dialog window.
~ Settings ~
The owner of the game can change the sound level, the time-out time and the access (owner only, group members only or everyone) by clicking on the edge of the board.
