The PushAway Shield is a scripted item designed to "push away" people from it, depending if they meet some criteria set in the settings :
- everyone
- everyone except the owner
- everyone wearing the group
- everyone except those wearing the group
- everyone on a black list
- everyone except those on a white list.
The request for this object originated from a tribute band who wanted to "gently" push away audience members who climbed on the stage.
Restrictions: please read below.
The settings can be set in an easy-to-use menu system (see screenshots): detection radius and angle, push force (can be made negative to attract instead of pushing), constraining the pushing force to the horizontal plane...
Added in version 1.1, a visual "bubble" shield can be rezzed to materialize the detection and pushing area. This shield adapts its radius (up to 32 meters due to the limit of prim sizes in SL) and angle: either a full sphere or a cone. Beyond looking really cool, this shield also helps to find the correct orientation if you want to detect people only on a certain side.
The white list, the black list and the access list are defined with straightforward notecards (listing the avatars legacy names or their UUIDs).
A full documentation is given in the form of a notecard but it's really easy to use.
IMPORTANT RESTRICTIONS:
An object can push its owner, but pushing other avatars requires the object owner to own the parcel. If the land is deeded to a group, then the PushAway Shield must be deeded to the same group.
This is why the PushAway shield ships in two identical versions but with different permission sets :
- one is copyable but not transferable: use this one if you personally own your land parcel
- the other is transferable but not copyable: deed this one to the land group if you are in this situation.
Other permission details: the PushAway Shield object is modifiable (you can retexture it or make it invisible, for example), but the scripts are not modifyable.
Any constructive feedback, feature request or support request is welcome (please read the manual first though!). Please use email if possible.
