To use my Quick Draw weapons: right click a weapon and choose "Add" (not "Wear"...that may replace something else you are wearing).

Choose "hand" weapons, and two of the following : slung, hip, shoulder...L and R, one for each side.. You only actually need "hand" weapons to shoot but, is cool to have holstered weapons too!

No "draw" or "sling/holster" commands needed, no gestures, no chat commands. The gun draws ready to fire as soon as you enter mouselook, and holsters when you exit. Quick Draw! =)

I like to use the mousewheel/scroll wheel to enter mouselook but you may use any method you like (view menu or keyboard or the Camera Controls window mouselook button).

Fires a Linden Damage bullet, no push or cage etc.

Gun ejects empty cases on reload, after 6 rounds.

Also included is a reticule HUD. When worn, it will only appear while in mouselook and place a circle in the center of your screen, around the tiny mouselook crosshairs. If you find the diminutive size of mouselook crosshairs irritating, you may like to use this.

I usually don't include historical info as many who have an interest in firearms here, already know a lot. But these guns are a bit unique.

Commonly, though inaccurately, referred to as the Model 1858 due to the 1858 patent markings on its cylinder, the Remington-Beals Model Revolvers along with subsequent models and variations were the beginning of a successful line of medium and large frame percussion revolvers.

This one is the Remington New Model Army Cartridge Conversion.

The advent of metallic cartridges quickly made percussion/cap and ball pistols undesirable. Thus, it was common practice to have percussion/cap and ball pistol converted to cartridge firing pistols.

Getting a cartridge conversion was about 1/3rd the cost of buying, say, a Colt 1873 SAA ( the Peacemaker, designed from the start as a metallic cartridge using firearm). Thus, these cartridge conversion guns were much more common than the oft featured "Peacemaker" in movies and television.

A notable exception to this Hollywood misrepresentation is Clint Eastwoods' "Pale Rider", in which he uses a New Model Army Cartridge Conversion.

The Remington revolver permitted easy cylinder removal, allowing a quick reload with spare pre-loaded cylinders; this can also be seen in "Pale Rider".

The cartridge conversion guns also featured an ejection rod, so switching cylinders was not necessary but an added advantage.

Got myself a few of these weapons and I am a fan now.

They are simple, in that they don't have a ton of options, but it is one of the things I like about them.

Having bought a boat load of guns in SL the years, many of which I really like, they all have one thing in common: lag. They all cause moderate to significant lag.

Not these quick draw guns. Honestly not at all. They are my favorites now.

I saw a person at an SL shooting range, shooting at a target. I watched them stand there, draw their guns in an instant, shoot, and instantly holster. Over and over. It looked so wild! I had to IM them to ask how they were doing this, and this is how I learned about these guns.

So I got some started using them and I have no regrets at all. Price is great, guns look and sound cool, and work just as they are described to. Now I have a lot of them.

Only one caveat, and to me it just doesn't bother me. On occasion I log in and the guns won't fire, so I just remove them and add them again and all is well. It is not a surprise to me since over the years I have got many things which do this in SL.

These are the first cartridge conversion guns I have seen SL too, which I had actually searched for years. Naturally I got the Colts as well.

Now if I was into the combat sandbox scene, these would not be my choice because they fire a basic Linden Damage bullet. Combat sandboxes are full what are basically griefer weapons that have orbit bullets and cagers and pushers and all sorts of things like that. But for killing zombies and rp, these are are just too cool.
