Working with the SLRR system, the locomotive work with the VRC Train 2010 Opensource v2.6.0 scripts.

A great free first foray.
Appearance:
+ Great model, with textures that use normals and specular materials well.
- No interior/drivers cabin.
+ Dozer blade is removable on the Apocalypse version.
% The Apocalypse parts are mostly all one mesh object linked into the standard model that's been retextured with much more wear and tear, so you can't really move or replace any of the grates or wood planks on it. If parts of it were uploaded as separate objects (such as the doors, railings and the bogies) it would also likely bring the land impact down (due to how LI cost scales disproportionately with size). You also can't remove the parts on the Apocalypse version if you're after a more weathered and derelict unfortified version, due to ambient occlusion leaving dark parts underneath.
Scripts & Effects:
+ Has functional lights and sounds.
- The drivers position is towards the rear of the vehicle, so you're only really going to be driving it in 3rd person view.
% The scripts could be better in following the tracks, but they're open source and are more than workable. They can be either replaced or improved yourself.

Ultimately it's a nice decently made original vehicle, and any mentioned criticisms are mostly offset by it being free and able to be modified.
