RL Penetralia Roman Shrine Mesh
PENETRALIA MESH 2018
Historical background:
In ancient Roman religion, the Manes or Di Manes are deities sometimes thought to represent souls of deceased loved ones. They were associated with the Lares, Lemures, Genii, and Di Penates as deities that pertained to domestic, local, and personal cult.
Sometimes, especially in rich families, a funeral mask was printed on the passed away beloved person, which was then exposed on a shrine at home together with others.
Romans used to light up little candles behind those masks which used to move with the wind giving the impression that those projected shadows were moving.
