This script uses the R L V system to lock an attachment to your avatar. You need to use an R L V - enabled viewer.

It's useful if you want to keep, for example, a HUD attached throughout outfit changes, or an ankle lock attachment that comes with some shoes, a wedding ring (I use it for that)... any attachment.

Just rez the item you want to lock, drop the script in and take it back. The item must be modifiable of course. The script will only function when you attach the item. Attach the object then give the Lock command (see below).

While locked, the item cannot be manually removed even by an outfit change. When you relog, the attachment will relock itself (if it was locked when you logged off) as soon as possible when the viewer and SL is ready (it can take up to 30 seconds... nothing I can do about that).

Note that while an attachment is locked, it cannot be edited.

The script listens on channel 3 by default. To send commands, type "/3 command" into the chat window, without the quote marks. The item will say what it has done if you type the command correctly.

Commands:
lock Lock the attachment on you.
unlock Unlock the item, allowing you to remove or edit it.
chat N Change chat channel to number N (remember what you set).
remove Remove the script (be careful - it is removed immediately)

If you lock an attachment and cannot remember the chat channel you changed to, disable the R L V function in the viewer's preferences and relog. You can then reset the script in the edit window, which will unlock and reset to channel 3. Remember to re-enable R L V and relog again.

Note that if you wear multiple items with the script in, they will all hear the commands and act on them. You could wear one, change the channel, then take it off and do another item, so that they have different channels if you want individual control.

P.s. if you wonder why I space out R L V, it's because the stupid marketplace sometimes automatically moves things using that abbreviation to the Adult section.
