Fantastic avatar
This is my first "quality" avatar, before this i was using a basic starter kit avatar with a bunch of modifications, i finally dropped the cash on some L$ and bought this.
And im very pleased, though compared to some people who have used and bought better, more "high end" avatars, they might not find it as appealing, and thats understandable.
There are definitely some flaws, the texture work seems a bit messy, still good but almost like the edges were blurred just a bit too much, and the ear fluff is just a transparent texture, makes the head look find of round, but i filled that in with other free ear fluff i found on the market, which works like a charm.
The handpaws and digitigrade legs are really nice, they are smooth and the shading on them exemplifies their shape and makes them look nice and realistic.
The tongue options are cute and look nice, also on the note of cute is the bent ears, with options for either ear to be bent.
But the real place where this avatar shines, and why i chose it over other avatars is the GUI for facial expressions and minor customization. Its a very nice addition, gives a lot of small tweaks and options and allows you to personalize this avatar in a variety of different ways.
The only true gripe i have with this is the tail twitch, it seems almost too snappy, it looks more like its glitching than it does like its twitching.
I wasn't going to leave a review but.. wow.
First off, the texture work is shoddy at best.. I'm not even a fan of the newer texture work by Raawr. Secondly, this avatar is NOT modder friendly. There are so many UV unwraps (4 alone for the head/jaw; 9 overall) and some are horribly done. I believe this was one of Raawr's first, or was their first avatar, so I guess I can give them the benefit of the doubt but holy hell. I will say they have improved greatly with UV unwraps, but this one is just bad.
Most of the mesh work is decent and looks good, with the right textures on it. It looks as if they just saturated the hell out of their own with how grainy everything looks. I guess some people like that though? Maybe the other colors aren't as noticeable? The shape of the head is pretty adorable, and the floppy ear is cute too. The legs are well done. The hand-paws are lacking a bit, not as bad as the tail though.
The tail is possibly the worst feature of this avatar, in no way does it match the rest of it, and the unwrap is so badly done, it overlaps on itself like nothing I've ever seen, which is probably why the shading on it is bad. The tongue UV overlaps as well.
The ear fluff is just.. What? How? It has no texture whatsoever and is just a blank texture with the opacity on; as does the hair tuft.
The shapes are also bad, the female has very very pointy shoulder blades, but those don't matter as much seeing as you can change them. Unless you're not good with shapes, then it seems yer SoL.
I don't feel right for leaving a bad review, because Raawr has come so far along since this avatar and I guess in it's time this AV wasn't considered all that bad; but I am not at all looking forward to modding this and I regret purchasing it.
If there is a V2 I am missing out on, like with the Fox, then I will retract this review.
Pretty good - I make long reviews :3
Being that its so realistically textured, it stands out a lot, but hinders a little in match accessories or clothing to it if you're changing to this from cartoonier things.
I managed to move the iris texture (using select face) for smaller eyes, and turning the sclera black gave it a more animalistic look. The handpaws have pads on the fingers, but not the palms.
The tail I feel doesn't fully match the avatar, it's spikey mesh instead of any soft fluffs which is very noticeably unrealistic in contrast to everything else. The wag options for it are too fast for my tastes.
The ears and tail also have touch scripts built in, disableable via hud, which was interesting. I think the plantigrade foot's ankle (or lack thereof) could've matched the leg better, but that is all opinion based.
I kind of wish someone made some fluffy husky neck fur, it'd really complete the look.
It's ok
The avatar itself is really well made, the head specially looks good, it's just a bit small. However this color looks grayish inworld, not as dark as the image pictured here.
The female shape seems a little weird at the back/shoulders, I couldn't find a way to fix this.
Other than that it's a pretty nice looking avatar.
