The script gives an avatar who touches the object a menu of notecards to choose from. Since modify perms are given for the prim object (container for the script), you can size the prim to the shape or dimensions you want, AND change the texture to your preferred look.
This box contains a script in a file cabinet and a script in a book case. (See picture). You can move the scripts to your own object.
NEW ADVANCED FEATURES
- Set to group access only or anyone can access
- Owner can drop notecards into inventory only, or allow group members/ anyone
- Menu page size can be set to 5 items or 6 items - Auto-numbering on or off
INSTALLATION
Drag and drop all the notecards (must have transfer rights) you want to dispense into the object's inventory.
FEATURES:
1. This script presents a dialog menu to the user when the object containing the script is touched, displaying a choice of notecards, and gives the user (the touching avatar) the notecard chosen.
2. If there are more choices than the maximum allowed on a page (can be configured to 5 items or 6 items), the dialog box will show NEXT and PREV buttons to go forward or back a page.
3. The script automatically detects the names of the notecards in the object inventory and sorts them in alphanumeric order (0 to 9 first, followed by A to Z) for display. If there are new notecards to be added, just simply drop them into the object inventory; no additional steps are required.
4. The buttons on the dialog menu are also displayed in the correct sequence (left to right, top to bottom), instead of the weird default SL sequence (which is right to left, bottom to top).
5. The dialog menu will by default display the user message, "Which notecard do you wish to read?" (if the object description is blank). If you wish to customise this message, right-click on the object in-world, choose Edit, then edit the Description of the object to the message you want displayed.
ADMIN MENU:
Owner can access an admin menu with configuration options, by clicking on the object and holding down for about 2-3 seconds. An admin menu will pop-up, with the following options:
- auto-numbering on / off
- group access only / anyone can access
- inventory drop on / off / group
- page size 5 / page size 6
- show default user menu
Auto-numbering
------------------
* The owner can turn ON or OFF automatic numbering of the notecards on the dialog menu
* IF the sequence of the notecards displayed is unimportant, then auto-numbering feature is useful to leave on because the owner does not need to rename the notecards to put in the object inventory. (eg. 3 notecards with the names "Apple", "Pear" and "Orange" that are dropped in the object inventory will be displayed as "1) Apple", "2) Orange" and "3) Pear" automatically in the dialog menu).
Group-access only / anyone can access
--------------------------------------------
* If set to group access only, it means that if the object's group is set to a specific group (through right-clicking it and choosing Edit, then clicking on Group button), then only members of the same group can access the notecard dispensing menu, and access the notecards.
* If set to anyone can access, then anyone who touches the object will call up the notecard dispensing menu and can access the notecards.
Inventory drop
----------------
* The owner can allow anyone to drag and drop notecards into the object if this setting is turned on
* Nobody else can drop notecards into the object inventory except the owner if this setting is turned off
* Only group members can drop notecards into the object inventory if this setting is set to group
