Attach this to your head to have everything you say displayed above yourself briefly (simple hover text). This can help bring attention to what you are saying when you are one of the only people typing in a group of voice chat users.

There are two options with which you can change the colour of the text. If you can think of another that you would prefer, don't be afraid to suggest it. There is one version with the option to change the colour via an LSL representation in a notecard and another which lets you simply change the colour of the invisible prim to change the text colour.

The text scrolls into view, then waits a while based on the length of what you typed, then scrolls out of view. Each line is separate but Second Life viewers have a limit to the amount of text that you can display at once. If you say something really long and want to clear it, you can reset scripts in the attachment. The text also clears when you teleport or detach and reattach the object.

If you want it to listen to a channel other than 0, put the number of the channel as the object description, then reset scripts. Any invalid data here will cause it to default back to 0 (nearby chat).

If you would like a version without the scrolling effect or anything else slightly different, feel free to contact SelvaKitten in-world.

The invisible cube is copy and modify, the script is just copy.

Update: Now with a version 2! Faster and more memory efficient, coloured by tinting.

  • Marquee scrolling effect
  • Customisable text colour
  • Customisable listen channel
  • New: Faster version included
