Spell Fire / Spellfire Melee Legitifier;
This, 1 prim pole is scripted to legitify the damage prims emitted from melee weapons such as swords and axes.
Once ressed, it begins after it is touched. You will see floating text and object speak to instruct you what to do. It’s fairly simple. Just whack at the pole with the weapon you wish to test until the floating text ‘Processing….’ changes to the result. The object will also speak to you, requesting more hits if they are required. Simple touch the pole again, to test further.
Once the data from the damage prims have been collected, the result displayed in floating text above the pole. Only one weapon at a time can be legitified.
So, what is actually checked?
Well, the script that fires out the damage prims can not be checked, this can only ever be done via inspection of the actual weapon, but the legitifier will display what script the damage prim should belong to, for example; a version 4 two handed sword.
The legitifier can only check the actual prim that will cause damage on any spell fire combat meter. Firstly, it checks the creator. If the damage prim was created by some one other than Spell fire’s creator, it displays as illegitimate. As you may know; a damage prim may do standard damage but at what size, what other special abilities have been scripted into it? So first hurdle, if the creator is incorrect, the weapon is illegitimate.
Secondly, the pole checks for the size of the prim, the damage the prim does on contact and type of damage. It then checks an internal database list, to see if the size and damage are legitimate and then displays the script version that should be found inside the weapon.
What happens if a weapon is Illegitimate?
Floating text will appear, displaying all the findings. If one of those elements does not qualify, the text is red and the weapon deemed to be illegitimate. However, some damage prims, not created by Spell Fire’s creator, may still be legitimate, which is why the list doesn’t stop there. And also, some damage prims he created may have been, hacked, to appear Legitimate.
The damage the prim does is displayed along with the script version that can be expected to be found inside the weapon. If the size of prim, damage and version of script do not match, the text is red to signify the weapon is illegitimate.
Green text means the damage prim is legitimate, but do inspect the actual scripts inside the weapon for creator and matching types, to be sure.
So how is this different from others?
I started looking into legitifiers when I was admin over some tournaments. I found a few and wished to test them out before purchasing. I had built a simple set of illegitimate weapons, with higher damage, bigger sized prims for the sole purpose to check the products. But I always used the creator’s scripts. I was curious to see if these could be detected and, I found out, they could not. Although, the products I tested DID find other issues in some test weapons, I decided to try to detect them myself and created this product.
Are there any Known Issues?
Unfortunately yes. Spell Fire has brought out and will always continue to bring out new weaponry, so its always a game of catch up. This is why this product will only specifically check the damage prims of Melee weapons; axes, swords, daggers and pole arms.
Another issue is the creator check; because the Spell Fire Damage prims usually die, instantly on collision with an object or Avatar, there can be a delay assessing the creator. This is why the pole may sit with ‘Processing….’ over the top. Fear not, it has not crashed, just try moving closer or around the pole. Some times it may take a few swings, other times it may work straight away.
