I made this little quickie for myself and thought I'd share it.
HOW TO USE:
All you need to do os put some text in the description field and touch. The randomly generated SKU number will show up in owner only chat.
I have it that way so you can have an initial input that shows that this SKU is yours or from a specific department of your store. Like if you have an online database setup, where you have a lot of products listed... like in a network vendor. You could see them easier that way in your tables.
Example 1:
Jenny Jergins (not a real avatar I hope) has a store called Jenny's Jamborie. She wants to make a unique SKU for her little store. She decided to put "JENJAM" in the description field. After she touched the box, she got this as a result: "JENJAM-4892-0bueqk" in owner only chat.
Example 2:
Jenny has expanded her store into three departments: Windchimes, Rugs and Fountains. She has an online database that distributes her products via network vendors. She would like to have easy access to her products' details from her database's tables. She has chosen to assign the beginning of her SKUs to look like this for ease of use:
CHM-JENJAM for windchimes
RG-JENJAM for rugs
FTN-JENJAM for fountains
