It's now bundled with the original sculpted miniship it was based upon, as both a miniature and as an off-sim landscape prop.

Originally an asteroid mining barge, pirates will often refit previous plunders to add to their armada.

The heavy plating to deflect asteroid collisions works just as well against other starships, making it a favourite amongst aggressive and adventurous pilots. The reinforced superstructure trades rugged durability for limited internal space, leaving it reliant on other more fragile ships to collect the ore & plunder after it has ploughed into & softened up its targets.

The Pummel prototype was originally designed with an independently flyable bridge & command module to scout new asteroid sites whilst the main barge remained to continue mining. This feature was dropped from the production model at the last minute due to emergency cost-cutting from an unprecedented economic downturn. Being cut so late in the design process, engineers could only gloss over and weld what was otherwise an independent ship to the barges hull. Despite warnings by regulatory committees, the potentially hazardous aftermarket modifications that reactivate this feature are all too common.
