█ ABOUT

The Rivera set pieces are a blend of "old" materials with modern shapes.; I wanted to honour Leonor Rivera, the greatest romantic influence of Philippine National Hero, Jose Rizal, and bring her forward. She is immortalised in Jose Rizal's novel, "Noli Me Tangere" as the character Maria Clara, while Jose Rizal plays his role as Crisostomo Ibarra.

Rivera inspired the name of the María Clara dress, one of the many national costumes of the Philippines, a multi-piece ensemble that emulates the character's traits of purity and virtue.
