5-M Rotating Satellite Dish, Model QG-5M
This Cassegrain satellite dish (model QG-5M) is composed of a 5-meter diameter reflector, subreflector, feed cone, and a pedestal.
Also available in 2.5-meter, 7.5-meter, and 10-meter diameters (see separate listings).
The dish rotates in azimuth (AZ) at a fixed elevation (EL) angle. You can set the AZ speed/direction and the EL angle via easy-to-use menus. The six AZ speed increments shown on the AZ menu are user configurable using a note card.
The AZ and EL axes can be controlled more precisely via chat commands. The default chat channel is 33, but that can be changed via a note card.
Sample Chat Commands:
/33 el=32.678 sets elevation angle to 32.678 degrees
/33 +5 adds 5 degrees to the EL angle
/33 az =-0.115 sets azimuth rotational rate to -0.115 radians/sec
/33 +0.1 adds 0.1 radians/second to the AZ rate
/33 stop stops AZ motion
/33 start starts AZ motion with the last used rate
/33 reverse reverses the direction of the AZ rotation
The elevation axis has a range of motion from -10 to 90 degrees. The azimuth axis can continuously rotate 360 degrees.
The logo on the front and back of the reflector contains the model number and also honors a now defunct company (TIW Systems).
Note cards provide easy assembly and operating instructions. The entire assembly consists of a total of 11-prims.
The reflector assembly is mod/xfer, the pedestal is mod/copy/xfer. The control system script is transfer only. All note cards are mod/copy/xfer.
Version 2.1 now allows the owner to configure the dish so it can be controlled by anyone or only by the owner. The owner selects who can control the dish by changing a setting in the configuration notecard located inside the dish. Also added in this version is a reflector lighting system that is configurable via a menu system.
