★ Included with our Chart Planning Table. See Related Items below.

★ New: Drop push pins & draw lines on the chart for flight planning, sail routing, battle strategies, etc.
✔ Note: This feature is intended for real-time interactive collaboration among a team of "event planners". It is not a alternative for developing distributable map images. Push pins & lines are auto-deleted after a minute; long enough for event planning - short enough to keep from cluttering the map.

Are you still hand making your maps using screen captures or in-world pictures of the Interface and an image manipulation application on your PC, then paying to upload?! Things change quickly in SL (e.g airports coming and going) and your maps soon become out of date. Remaking them is a significant effort.

Second Earth Map™ automates this process for you, allowing you to update your map with a simple press of the Refresh button.

Great tool for flight planning, battle planning, sailing events, etc. Combine maps to cover larger areas. Place on the wall, on a table, in a frame... (table not included, refer to Related Items).

Your map can be created 3 different ways, by specifying the Region name (and optional map X, Y placement), by standing at the center of the area you'd like to map, or by dropping in a notecard of the regions you want displayed.

Supply your own detailed photographs for specific regions of interest in order to add detail when using the expanded map. (see Double-click under Operation, below).

Color tinting by region name allows you to show your land holdings, your community, military, commercial & private airports, marinas, or anything you choose.

█ The Owners Menu:

○ Map region: Allows you to specify the Northwest region of the 8 x 8 region (64 region) map. The mapping operation proceeds automatically.

You may also specify the X, Y location on the map to place the Region. The default location is the Northwest corner.

○ Map position: Allows you to specify the center of the area to be mapped from where you are currently standing. The mapping of the 64 region (8 x 8 region) map proceeds automatically.

○ Map notecard: Prepares the Map to receive a new Map Notecard. Follow the directions given in chat to "Inventory Drop" your notecard into the map. Mapping by notecard is useful for when the upper left corner or the center of your desired mapping area does not have a region. Mapping by notecard also allows you to subdivide the map array into multiple smaller maps (e.g. four 4 x 4, two 4 x 8, or two 8 x 4).

○ Tint regions: Allows for the color tinting of regions. This is provided for the Owner to use for their own purposes. Tinting regions is useful for defining usage or boundaries. It is totally up to you how you'd like to implement this feature.

✔ Note: Tinting is retained on Refresh.

○ Clear tinting: Clears all Region tinting.

○ Set texture: Allows for alternate textures to be used for specified regions. Useful for Region owners, flight planning, battle tactics or just because you want your home region to look better on the map. When you double-click to get the large expanded region map you see all the detail of your alternate image.

✔ Note: Alternate textures are retained on Refresh.

○ No textures: Removes the alternate textures, replacing them with the standard resolution map image.

○ Refresh: Redraws the map using the latest available images; while retaining tinting and alternate textures.

○ Resize: Provides the Resizing menu.

○ Get help: Delivers the Help Notecard, your most recent Map Notecard and other important information.

■ The Guest Menu:

○ Get help: Delivers the Help Notecard and other important information. Guests are allowed to draw lines and place pins on the map to assist in planning operations.

█ Operation:

● Touching a Region on the map will chat the Region Name.

● Touch and drag your mouse to drop a pin or draw lines for flight planning, sail routing, battle strategies, etc.
✔ Note: The drawing feature is meant as an "interactive" planning tool. The lines and pins are not permanently rendered.

● Double-click a Region on the map to enlarge that region to cover the entire 8 x 8 grid map. This allows detailed region-specific planning operations.

✔ Note: Double-click the enlarged detail map to dismiss it.

● Automated Map Naming
○ Mapping by Notecard
The map will display the name of the Map Notecard in floating text that hovers near the top of the map.

○ Mapping by region name or by your position
The map name will be created by using the name of the first non-empty northwest and the last non-empty southeast region names.

█ Grid Survey Support:

● The data provided is made possible by APIs provided by Tyche Shepherd & gridsurvey.com.

Works well, resizes nicely, but a bit buggy zooming out and inconvenient to open the menu.

This can be a bit buggy on going back to the overview mode, it doesn't always work when you try to zoom back out, but overall it's nice and you can have *current* maps without needing to upload your own textures over an over again which would end up costing you far more than you're paying here after just a few months of trying to keep things updated.

It would be nice to have the menu (and a back button to zoom out so you can do so more reliably) set up to a button on the wall, even though it would increase the LI to do so, but to make it work with anyone's layout (I'd need mine at a 45 degree andgle to the panel a bit to the side to be on the column this is placed between) they'd probably have to use something like a hidden chat channel on a separate item that could be rezzed and positioned as needed for it to work.

It's understandalbe why this is nomod, though, even if it is inconvenient. Things like this need an *exact* aspect ratio to work and someone stretching it improperly instead of using the resize script which expands it equaly in both directions to fit a wall could break the whole thing and with fresh textures being fetched and applied to multiple faces trying to link in your own mesh or prims might disrupt the linkset and have textures being applied to the face of what was added instead of the actual map.

Excellent Mapping tool.

These are neat map tools. I find you have to turn off the click and double click movements to work with the map for it's double click items. I've have these in the office and garages and some with 3 across and 2 up. With each showing 64 regions, I can see 384 regions. I've laid these out on the ground with 8 wide and 8 tall. I do find that after double clicking on a region to enlarge it, the planning marks I make on the map work good, but I can't always get the enlarged region to dismiss with a double click in the center. It seems to work better to double click near the corners to dismiss the map. If you really want to drop pins on the 64 tile map, I drop a prim cone on the maps and use float text for numbering them. I can put rezzers near the map to place and recall pin locations and other markers. NOT TRUE

you CAN NOT plan any routes on the map, it works only one sim at a time, DOES NOT give you the ability to trace lines on zoomed out map.
THE ZOOMED sim is VERY glitch and does not close on double click
IT TAKES A LOOOOOONG TIME TO LOAD A MAP
definitely a waste of money
I'm a big time SL pilot and own an aviation firm here, CAN'T PLAN A SINGLE FLIGHT WITH THIS

So much easier than making pictures of the sl map yourself and keep them up to date, a single click is enough for these maps!
The creator is updating and improving on the product constantly and is also open for any suggestions that can help improve the earth map! 5 stars easy!
