After a model of Jean François Leleu, this late Louis xv style secretary desk, adorned with a beautiful marquetry, floral porcelain plaques from sevres and cabriole legs protected by gilt bronze corner mounts and escutcheons opens revealing it's interior drawers and a green colored leather writing surface.
Equipped with counterweights and pulleys, these low desks or day secretaries were provided with secret drawers that would be released with a simple key turn. The use of porcelain plaques indicates these pieces were meant to be placed on cabinets or intimate rooms.
