Helpful Sculptie viewing hints from <?Worn!>

Ever noticed how some sculpts seem to distort when viewed from a certain angle?

Sculpties render in Secondlife with various levels of detail depending on your graphics settings and the distance you are viewing them from. The tecnical term for the value of sculptie detail is called "rendervolumeLODFactor" (or, for our purposes 'LOD' for short).

Lower graphics settings (which are standard for more basic graphics cards) cause sculpts to distort more readily at shorter distances. These settings can be overridden in the 'Advanced' (menu) * -> 'Debug Settings', then entering 'rendervolumeLODFactor' into the field and adjusting the number to a higher setting.

The default viewer setting is a LOD value of 1.0, pushing these settings higher than their standard reccommended values can cause your graphics system to work harder and may cause a drop in framerate performance for lower end graphics systems. If you have a high performace graphics card, settings of 4 for example can greatly improve the way sculpts render on your machine.

* Advanced menu is accessible via the CTRL-ALT-D keyboard shortcut (CTRL-Option-D on a Mac).

Don't waste your money here. The items don't look like on the picture and you have to retexture them!! So you might as well make them yourself!

at first i was a bit disappointed, bcs there were no shadows on the texture, so it didn`t look as realistic as i supposed, but then i put a corrugated iron texture with shadows on it and - works perfect!

Textures are nice, they look good and realistic, but you can't stretch them to make the prims bigger; they end up looking distorted and.. just not good in general.
