Some pieces come with an optional sand, grass and shell base, which is soft linked. You can delete, change the sand texture to match your own or simply make the sand transparent.

The candles, tiki torch, benches and chairs and will show in your inventory as no modify only because the candle, animations and associated scripts are no modify. This will not affect your ability to edit the prims.
