Layer clothes meet avatar needs that Mesh clothes do not:
Layer clothes sit neatly under mesh clothes and accessories and do not poke through.
Layer clothes work alone or with mesh items. They do not require help of an Alpha, or addition of patches.
Layer clothes load instantly upon teleport / avatar load. Your mesh clothes frequently take many seconds or even minutes to begin to "show" after you teleport or your avatar body appears. Wearing layers underneath mesh means your lovely avatar does not appear without clothes!
Layer clothes allow one to uniquely "edit" a mesh outfit ensemble for one's own look. Example: Cleavage is open on many mesh tops almost to the navel. Fine if that's your mood of the moment, but when you want to show less or be more conservative one can take the same mesh top and add a later top under it, much as one would do in RL. Or add a layer "top" under a mesh item to add a splash of color!
Included in this bag is a Button down front Shirt as pictured, on the Shirt layer. This can be worn under mesh, or on its own!
This works with System avatars, and with BOM-enabled mesh avatars. Right click in your inventory > Add and you're done!
