So imagine the scene, you have an interest in a club that runs contests. You know the ones I mean, the ones with a cash prize and you click to enter, then at some point later you get to vote and someone wins the lot, or maybe the top three split it.
And imagine there are about 30-35 avatars at the party. A good crowd you might think considering how some clubs struggle to attract visitors these days!
Or is it? What if, once you had taken out the club owner, host and three dancers, there were only six or so individual real people behind the remaining avatars. Two of these real people were running multiple viewers and controlling twelve avatars each.
So you have over 20 avatars who have arrived, joined the contest and are just dancing away. They do not speak for the whole time they are at the contest. The DJ also notes that only 10 of the 30-odd avatars present are listening to their music stream. But when it gets to voting, they all carefully vote for each other, clean out the prize fun then vanish off into the night!
The few “proper” guests who have come to chat, listen to music and perhaps hope that they might win something then start to complain that they are not going to both to come anymore as no-one chats, the sim is laggy and they had realised they don’t stand a chance at winning any prizes.

If you are still reading then perhaps you might identify with the problem.
I did which is why I created my “Chat Analyser”. The idea is simple, it just monitors who is chatting, or more exactly, who is not! You can use it however you wish. You can make it invisible and click to get a report about who has not chatted for a certain period. Or you can rez it in full view and it will list the top no-chat offenders as floating text. This could be coupled with a sign on the wall stating that avatars who do not chat will be removed from the contest!

To be clear, this will not stop people visiting your club with the intention to clear out your prize funds. You will still have to manage that yourself! But it will give you something to back up any action you might decide to take to make your contests appear more transparent and fairer. The result being a club full of people who are listening to the music, interacting with each other, having fun and hopefully coming back with their friends.

The PRO version offers an additional layer of annoyance to those who are not chatting and a visual indication to those nearby. If the no-chat timeout is reached a banner is rezzed that then follows the target until they say something or leave. The time that have not said anything floats above the banner. You can change the default texture that appears on the banner by adding one of your own to the contents list.

In the interest of privacy, NOTHING that is said in chat is used in any way, just the fact that something was.

My Chat Relay extends the range of the analyser. On it’s own the limit is set by the SL chat range of 20m. During testing it was interesting to note that a certain section of the clientele, after a short time seemed to gather in one corner of the club. Just outside of chat range - not that they were saying anything anyway! (Did they really think that would not go unnoticed!!!!) So, depending on the size of your club, rezzing relays will allow you to keep tabs on those who might not be at your club for the reasons you wish.

You will find COPY versions of these products so you can rez as many as you like or a NO_COPY version if you will only need a single device.

Other than that, I really hope my product may be of some use to you and results in your club being that little bit better than the competition!
