Included with your purchase are the following items:

1 - Sandstorm Controller stone (1 prim)

1 - Sandstorm Remote stone (1 prim)

1 - Desert Sounds stone (no particle effect, but otherwise exactly like the Sandstorm Remote stone)

To use the system, you will need one, and only one, Sandstorm Controller stone, plus as many additional Sandstorm Remote stones as you might need to provide the desired coverage.

There is nothing special about the stones. They are just objects being used to hold the scripts that create and control the sandstorms. If you already have objects positioned properly that you would like to use as either the Sandstorm Controller or a Sandstorm Remote, you can just drag the appropriate scripts from the objects to your inventory and then into the Contents tab of your object. Just be aware that the scripts will rename the prim that contains the scripts to indicate its function in the system. This will make it easier to find your Sandstorm emitters if you have them hidden and you want to search for them by name later.

How many will you need?

Well, that depends on the area you want to cover. The Sandstorm Controller functions as a Sandstorm emitter and may suffice on its own, for a smaller parcel of land. But, you may want quite a few, if you intend to cover an entire sim. Just be sure that you use only Sandstorm Remote stones for extra coverage. The timing for the system is handled by the controller, so more than one controller will produce erratic behavior.

Each emitter is designed to provide coverage over a 30M diameter area. However, be aware that the Sandstorms are always moving from East to West, so position the emitters so that the effect begins at the East edge of your coverage area and if you have a smaller parcel of land the effect may travel across into other parcels. For this reason, it is recommended (but, not required) that you have an entire sim (or, at least a parcel oriented such that sandstorms crossing the Western border of your land will not be an issue).

So, how does the system work?

Simply rez one Sandstorm Controller stone, or object, and click it for a menu. You can choose On, Off, or Auto. Automatic mode will start a sandstorm right away that will last a random amount of time between 30 seconds and 3 minutes. The system will then start another random sandstorm every five to fifteen minutes. Only the owner has access to the Sandstorm Controller menu.

While within chat range of any of the Sandstorm Remotes you can also use the following chat commands to control the system:

/1start sand
/1stop sand
/1auto sand

These commands are not case sensitive, so /1START SAND and /1Stop SAnd, for example, will also work. Again, only the owner can issue chat commands to the system.

That's it! Experiment with your system to determine how many emitters you need. They can be any distance from the Sandstorm Controller within the same sim.

Have fun!

And, if you have any problems with the system, contact Life Camino.

Exactly what my Egyptian sim needed ... a sandstorm across the desert to wow the visitor, and keep hidden the intricacies of an oasis, the Nile river and the pyramids until much later for a second even bigger wow. The colors of the creator's sandstorm match my desert's color - simply perfect!

The sandstorm could use a controller for diff levels of storm as well as the sound is terrible. Broken streams that when near each other cuts in and out causing a horrible effect thinks it would be better with no sound at all/ Tried to contact the seller no reply perhaps no online these days will give some time and see what happens currently not worth the time spent to order the product

Realistic effect & helpful creator

It does what it promises. The sand looks realistic and moves nicely. It's great for bigger areas. I, however, only needed it to cover a small area (I am a dancer and needed it for my number as a stage prop). So I wrote the creator, and for an extra fee, he custom made me a version that covers only the area I needed. This took only about an hour. Good, prompt service.
