With GTFO! rising in popularity on the grid, freight haulage is a growing sight in Second Life. For over half a century, goods have been shipped around the world in ISO-standard containers. You can texture a simple box, maybe the best idea to carry on a vehicle, but these give you a good mesh model of a newly-painted container to put in a freight yard or on a dock. It comes with a properly made door end, though they don't open.

The two real paint schemes are for P&O and P&O Nedlloyd, which is now part of the Maersk shipping group. There are also two schemes for Second Life, the Bay City Cargo Corporation and Sansara Logistics.

They are built to the standard scale, 1 metre in Second Life equal to 1 real-world metre. A lot of avatars and scenery products are a bit oversized, but these are modifiable and can be easily re-scaled. At 5LI each, mostly the Download Weight, these may be unsuited to use on vehicles, but if you want to link one to a flatbed truck, ship, or railcar. give it a try.

There are not many trucks in SL that can carry them. The one in the picture does look rather silly.

  • All mesh, 5LI per container
  • 4 different paint schemes.
  • 2 historical P&O paint schemes
  • Sansara Logistics and Bay City Cargo Corporation paint schemes
  • Sized to official SL scale: 1m per unit
